Renovations at Tom Petty Park are halfway finished, with new pickleball courts and restroom facilities projected for completion in 2026.
According to a city of Gainesville release, the new pickleball courts are on tap to open for public use in February or March 2026. The base layer is now in place, the fence posts are installed and court lighting is up.
The tennis courts are temporarily closed and a portion of the fencing has been removed to allow for saw cutting and concrete work. The courts are expected to reopen in late December or early January.
On the east side of the park, a new section of the multi-use path has been completed, with irrigation and landscaping coming soon.
Park restroom renovations are ongoing as demolition of the existing building is now complete, with temporary restrooms available in the southeast corner of the parking lot. The new restroom facilities are scheduled to be completed by mid-2026.
A dedicated project webpage is available to keep up with ongoing construction progress that includes public meeting information, past updates and project cost details.
