Single-vehicle accident injures 1 in Melrose

Emergency responders extricated one person from a single-vehicle accident in Melrose on Tuesday morning at the intersection of State Road 26 and Quail Street.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, units from ACFR and the Melrose Fire Department responded at 10 a.m. to a single vehicle on its side with the driver entrapped.

Emergency responders used hydraulic tools to remove the roof of the vehicle to extricate the driver, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local trauma center.
