
The Buchholz girls basketball team defeated Columbia in Lake City, 50-40, to win the Class 6A-District 2 title on Friday night.
A 21-0 run helped the Lady Bobcats overcome a 10-point deficit in the third quarter.
Jasmine Harkness led Buchholz (14-4) with 16 points, while Emonie McCallum added seven points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.
Na’Haviya Paxton led Columbia (13-6) with 20 points.
Both teams will advance to next Thursday’s regional quarterfinals. Buchholz will host while Columbia, which was seeking its first district title since 1999, will be on the road.
Elsewhere, Trenton defeated Branford, 51-39, to win the Class 1A-District 6 title.
It was the sixth straight title for head coach Bryant Frye and the Lady Tigers (22-4).
Hawthorne was also a winner.
The defending 1A state champion Lady Hornets defeated Williston, 63-25, to win the Class 1A-District 7 title.
