Heavy rainfall over the past week led the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) to issue warnings that many areas are near or above flood stage.
According to an SRWMD release sent Monday, areas along the Upper Suwannee, Santa Fe and Steinhatchee rivers have suffered from flooding and downed trees and are warning visitors to be cautious.
The release directed drivers not to take their vehicles into standing water and instructed bicyclists and hikers to avoid flooded areas due to unseen currents and underwater obstacles.
SWRMD suspended all boat/canoe camping special use authorizations on the Suwannee and Santa Fe rivers due to flooding and unsafe conditions.
District lands and roads are closed along the Steinhatchee River at the LA Bennett Grade Bridge on the Steinhatchee Springs Tract, Steinhatchee Falls Park, and the Roline Ramp on the Upper Suwannee River.
