Starke man dies in Newberry crash

A 70-year-old Starke man died when his vehicle left SW 298^th Street on Thursday in Newberry and overturned.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the driver was traveling south at 3:35 p.m. at 7729 SW 298^th St. in Newberry when his sedan left the road, went onto the east grass shoulder, struck a gate and overturned in a tree line.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
