An O’Brien man died and two other people were critically injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday morning in Suwannee County.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 40-year-old O’Brien man was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus northbound on County Road 137 around 6:45 a.m. when he veered to the left into the southbound lane for unknown reasons. The Ford collided with a 2015 Toyota Carola driven by a 43-year-old Lake City woman just north of 256th Street (Bibby Road).
The crash blocked both lanes.
Emergency responders transported the Taurus driver to HCA Lake City hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Toyota driver and a 41-year-old female Taurus passenger were transported to UF Health in Gainesville and are in critical condition.
Neither of the two people in the Taurus was wearing a seatbelt. The Toyota driver was wearing a seatbelt.
