Tampa man dies in collision with cement truck

A Tampa man died Wednesday after a head-on collision with a cement mixer truck on State Road 26 west of Trenton.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the 46-year-old Tampa man was driving his Nissan Rogue SUV west on SR 26 near County Road 307 at 4 p.m. when he attempted to pass a vehicle. While passing, the Tampa man drove into the path of a Ready Mix truck being driven by a 26-year-old Gainesville man going east on SR 26.

Both vehicles collided head-on as the SUV came to a rest on the north grass shoulder of SR 26 and the truck traveled onto the north grass shoulder and overturned onto its right side.
