Teenage bicyclist critically injured in Lake City collision with vehicle

A 14-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Lake City on Monday afternoon.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers responded at 5:50 p.m. to NW Bascom Norris Drive where they discovered the bicyclist lying on the road. The teenager was reportedly breathing but unconscious with an apparent head injury.

The vehicle’s driver remained on scene and cooperated with LCPD officers. The preliminary investigation revealed the teenager was riding east from the Walmart parking lot and approached NW Bascom Drive but did not stop before entering the roadway and was struck by the front of the oncoming vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the bicyclist to a nearby trauma unit with critical injuries.

They did not moved him like they should have no neck brase just put him in the back and left and the woman that hit him was going to fast and if he was leaving walmart how her car got hit on the driver side cover up lawer up
