The City of Gainesville is hosting a one-hour telephone town hall Monday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. to explore the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on communities with long-standing socioeconomic disparity.Â

District 1 city commissioner Gigi Simmons along with Virginia Grant, executive director of Gainesville Black Professionals, will be joined by City of Orlando commissioner and CEO of Orange Blossom Family Health Bakari Burns, Florida House Representative Shevrin Jones, and UF College of Medicine interim dean and emergency department chairman Dr. Adrian Tyndall. The speakers will discuss how the coronavirus crisis has disproportionately affected minority populations and communities of color.Â
