One person died Thursday night in a house fire in the Turkey Creek Forest subdivision.

According to a Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) release, firefighters responded within six minutes of the call to 8600 NW 13th Street at 11:42 p.m.

Firefighters searched the residential building for occupants and found the victim. The fire was extinguished, and adjacent structures were protected.

Crews from GFR Engine 7 and GFR stations 8 and 1 and Alachua County Fire Rescue stations 25 and 21, along with one Alachua County ambulance and the Gainesville Police Department, were involved in the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
