Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Levy County on Thursday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 65-year-old Old Town woman was driving a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer SUV north on US Highway 19 at 8:30 a.m. when a 24-year-old Chiefland man driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue east on NW 140th Street stopped at the intersection of US 19.

The Chiefland man attempted to cross US 19 and drove into the path of the Old Town woman. The Mercury struck the Nissan on the right front and side, and both SUVs came to rest on the east shoulder of the roadway.
