A 9-year-old Lake City girl is in serious condition after she was struck by a vehicle along SW Birley Avenue on Thursday morning.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 19-year-old Lake City female was driving a sedan northbound on SW Birley Avenue at 6:41 a.m. when her vehicle struck the 9-year-old girl who entered the road into the travel lane from the east shoulder.
Emergency responders transported the girl to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville with serious injuries.
