The Williston Elementary School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a student reported seeing someone running by a window holding an object that looked like a gun.

According to a Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) report, the incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. and school officials immediately placed the school on lockdown and school resource officers (SRO) started searching the property.

LCSO deputies and Williston Police Department officers also arrived on scene to assist with the search.

No person who posed a threat to the campus was located after law enforcement performed its search.

Due to the potential threat at the Williston Elementary School campus, the Williston Middle/High School and Joyce Bullock Elementary School were also placed on lockdown.

LCSO also wanted to dispel the rumor running through the Williston area that there was an active shooter incident.
