Williston man dies in single-vehicle crash

A Williston man died Monday evening when his pickup truck drifted off SW County Road 241 north of Archer and collided with several trees.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the 33-year-old man was driving his pickup southbound on SW CR 241 when he drifted onto the west grass shoulder, oversteered to the left and traveled across the road onto the east grass shoulder. His pickup struck several trees.

The release stated, “Area neighbors heard a loud noise around 9:30 p.m. (on Monday),” but the vehicle was not discovered until Tuesday morning.

Alachua County Fire Rescue responders pronounced the man dead on scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
