A fire damaged four units at the Windsor Court Apartments in Gainesville early Thursday morning.

According to a Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) release, the blaze was reported around 2:58 a.m. at 3600 SW 20th Ave. and personnel closed SW 20th Avenue west of SW 34th Street.

The first GFR unit that responded reported a heavy fire and, according to GFR District Chief Jeff Schuhmacher, the incident commander, GFR Engine 4 was assisted by crews from GFR stations 1, 2, 4, 9, Alachua County Fire Rescue 80 and one Alachua County ambulance. The Gainesville Police Department was on scene to control traffic in the area.

Firefighters searched the building for occupants while extinguishing the fire and protecting adjacent structures.

The fire in the four apartments was extinguished in 26 minutes, according to Schuhmacher. The apartments were vacant at the time and no injuries were reported.
