Woman reports robbery, abduction attempt near Diamond Sports Park

A 40-year-old woman reported that she was robbed at gunpoint while walking on a path along 122th Street on Dec. 28th.

According to Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Art Forgey, the encounter happened around 7:30 p.m. near Diamond Sports Park. 

The woman reported that she was in the area of 3900 SW 122nd Street on foot, “When someone grabbed her from behind and pulled her off the path and into some grass.”

She was unable to provide a description other than, “a muscular male that sounded angry and dressed in clothing that concealed his appearance.”

The victim believed the attacker had a gun up to her head when he demanded money, Forgey reported.

The victim provided him with jewelry, and the suspect fled north on SW 122nd Street in a dark-colored sedan.
