Woman found unresponsive in residential pool in southwest Gainesville

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is investigating a drowning incident involving an adult woman who was found unresponsive on Friday at a residence in southwest Gainesville.

According to an ACSO release, deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene at a home in the 7000 block of SW 79th Drive after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman in a swimming pool.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a local hospital.

This is the second drowning incident that has occurred in the past week. On July 11, ACSO deputies responded to a 20-year-old male, later identified as Gildan Cornelious of Chicago, who drowned in a swimming pool at Hidden Oaks Mobile Home Park.
