Hawthorne took on the persona of a rodeo bull, busting loose from the gate and dismounting Gainesville P. K. Yonge early with a 46-6 verdict on September 23 in Florida football.

Hawthorne darted in front of Gainesville P. K. Yonge 14-0 to begin the second quarter.

The Hornets registered a 27-6 advantage at intermission over the Blue Wave.
