Becker heads to Santa Fe College after excelling in three sports for Trenton High School

Today’s senior spotlight is on Trent Becker of Trenton High School.

Becker played football, basketball, and baseball for the Tigers. He was a Gainesville Sun honorable mention in boys basketball this past winter.

The Tigers were district runners-up and earned a spot in the playoffs. Trent was also on the football team, which advanced to the postseason as well. The Tigers lost to Chiefland in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

But Becker excelled at baseball.

He was a 3-year varsity starter, and last year as a junior was recognized by the Gainesville Sun as a first team All-area selection.

The left-hander went 7-1 overall with a 1.04 Earned Run Average. He gave up just 33 hits in 47 innings pitched with 58 strikeouts for the Tigers, who finished 20-5 last season.

Becker was also a Perfect Game All tournament team selection and was named to the Perfect Game Regional Team. In five appearances in 2020, he had a record of 1-2 with a 1.67 ERA. In 21 innings pitched, he had 26 strikeouts and only six walks.

“Trent is an excellent student, a great athlete, and even better citizen,” said Tiger coach Scott Hall.

One of the things that he liked about Becker is that he is always trying different activities, whether it’s golf, football, basketball, fishing, or teaching Sunday school. He is willing to step out there in faith.

Becker is one of six seniors for the Tigers’ baseball team. He is headed to Santa Fe College to continue his academic and baseball career
