Big wins for Buchholz, Oak Hall and PK Yonge; Eastside, St. Francis remain winless

Five schools from Gainesville were in action Friday night during week eight of the high school football season, and after the final whistle blew, one team remained undefeated, two teams remained winless, one team made a statement. Here are the summaries of those five games. 

PK Yonge 32, Fort White 0

The PK Yonge Blue Wave took a modest 6-0 halftime lead, but blew the game wide open in the second half with 26 points, while its defense shut down the Ft. White Indians, en route to a 32-0 win.

Fort White remains winless at 0-5 and is at home against Newberry next week. PK Yonge improves to 3-5 and is at home against Dixie County next week.

Orange Park 28, Eastside 14

The Eastside Rams allowed 28 first half points, and their rally fell short as they lost to the Orange Park Raiders 28-14.

Eastside remains winless at 0-6, and plays Santa Fe next week at home.

Oak Hall 42, Shorecrest 8

The Oak Hall Eagles have quietly rampaged their opponents and remained unbeaten in 2020. Last night in St. Petersburg, they dismantled the Shorecrest Prep Chargers 42-8.

The Eagles remain unbeaten at 7-0 this season. Shorecrest falls to 2-4.

Buchholz 24, Fleming Island 21

A fourth quarter field goal was the difference in a game tied 21-21 as the Buchholz Bobcats edged the #7 ranked Fleming Island Golden Eagles 24-21 in the week eight high school football Game of the Week, broadcast on I am Country 106.9.

The Bobcats led 21-7 at halftime, but the Golden Eagles scored two touchdown in the third and fourth quarter to even the game.

The win gives Buchholz a 4-1 record. They travel to St. John’s next week to face Creekside. Fleming Island, ranked #7 in the Prep Zone Power 20 Poll, falls to 5-2.

Trinity Christian 34, St. Francis 12

The Trinity Christian Eagles kept the St. Francis Wolves winless with a 34-12 victory in Deltona.

The win gives Trinity a 4-3 record, while St. Francis remains winless at 0-8.

The Wolves will try for their first win next week when they return home to take on take on Rocky Bayou Christian of Niceville.
