Week four in high school football opened with two one-sided outcomes in Thursday night action.

In the Battle of the Suwannee, the Dixie County Bears rode a five-touchdown first half to overwhelm the Chiefland Indians 47-21, while Ocala Trinity Catholic routed the Gainesville Hurricanes 38-7.

The Bears scored early and often, taking a 35-13 lead into intermission, and then closing with 12 unanswered points in the second half to win 49-21.

For Chiefland, it was their second straight loss of the season. Dixie County improved to 2-1.

Next week Chiefland returns home to take on the 0-2 West Oaks Academy from Orlando, while Dixie County is on the road to play the 1-2 Trenton Tigers.

Also on Thursday at Citizen’s Field in Gainesville, Ocala Trinity Catholic blitzed the Gainesville Hurricanes 38-7. 

The Celtics got off to a fast start, leading Gainesville 24-7 at halftime, then scored two additional touchdowns, while its stifling defense shutout the Hurricanes in the second half.

The loss dropped the Hurricanes to 1-2, while the Celtics remain unbeaten at 2-0.

Gainesville travels to Lake City next Friday to take on the Columbia Tigers, currently ranked #10 in the Prep Zone’s Power Poll. Ocala Trinity Catholic returns home to play The Villages Charter School.
