On Tuesday night, the Gainesville boys basketball team won its 11th straight postseason home game.
Senior AJ Hall scored 19 points and Willie Brooks added 12 as the No. 4 seed Hurricanes defeated No. 5 Chiles (Tallahassee), 56-33, in a FHSAA Class 5A-District 2 Quarterfinal at The Purple Palace.
GHS (14-12) led 13-2 at the end of the first quarter and a 19-0 run helped the ‘Canes take a 25-9 lead at the half.
Craig Thomas Jr. had eight points for GHS, which will travel to No. 1 seed Lincoln (Tallahassee) (20-1) on Thursday for the district semifinals.
