Hawthorne aims to remain unbeaten

The Hawthorne Hornets continue their quest to remain undefeated when they host Forest (Ocala) Friday night for our Game of the Week.

The Hornets, last year’s Class 1A runner-up, are coming off a 39-0 road win over Astronaut (Titusville) last Friday and have outscored their opponents 209-50 this season.

Hawthorne hosts a 3-4 Forest team that is on a two-game win streak that featured a 29-16 home victory over Leon (Tallahassee) last Friday.

As we announced at the start of the football season, this year we are bringing you two games live each week—one at 106.9 I Am Country and one here at mainstreetdailynews.com.

Click here to listen to Nevada Cullen and Will Levenson call the Stephenson’s Septic Tank Services Game of the Week featuring Forest (Ocala) at Hawthorne. Pre-game begins at 7:15 p.m., with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.

Over at 106.9 I Am Country, Mike Ridaught and Cameron Parker will call the showdown between Buchholz (Gainesville) vs. Bolles (Jacksonville) at Bradford High School in Starke. The pre-game show starts at 7 p.m., followed by kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Boles is the top-ranked team in this week’s Prep Zone Power Poll. The Bulldogs sport a 6-0 record and are coming off a bye week after beating Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville), 35-0, on Oct. 1.

Buchholz (6-1) is riding a three-game win streak that includes last Friday’s 35-10 road victory at Chiles (Tallahassee). The Bobcats, ranked second in the area power poll, have outscored their last three opponents 118-16 and will face their stiffest competition of the season against a Boles team that has shut out three teams this season, including its last two wins.
