High Springs cancels youth sports for the fall season

The City of High Springs today announced it was cancelling its youth sports program for the fall season.

“It is with mixed emotions that the City of High Springs announces the cancellation of all organized fall athletic programs, including Soccer, Flag Football and Volleyball. Please know that this decision was not made easily. For us, the fall season and youth sports are synonymous.

The number one priority of your City officials is the health and welfare of our future generations. Cancelling the fall youth programs was another play from our defensive playbook to combat the spread of this wicked virus.

Please know that although fall sports are cancelled, our staff will continue to maintain and improve our city parks for you and your family to enjoy. How about a pick-up game of soccer with mom, dad and the kids? Our fields are here for you. All we ask is that you avoid groups larger than ten and allow for social distancing when at all possible.

We appreciate your understanding, and encourage you to stay tuned for further announcements as we look for new and innovative ways to challenge the minds and bodies of our children.”
