Former UF athlete Grant Holloway broke his own 60-meter hurdles world record Friday at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships.

Holloway ran a time of 7.27 seconds in the first round of the event. He opted out of running the final in the event since he held an automatic bye into the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, which is scheduled for March 1-3 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Holloway’s previous world record was 7.29 seconds, which he accomplished on March 20, 2022, in Belgrade, Serbia, and again on Feb. 24, 2021, in Madrid, Spain. The former UF athlete holds 11 of the 13 fastest times in the event and is the defending World Athletics Indoor Championships winner, having topped the event in 2022 in Madrid.
