On Wednesday from 6-7 p.m., join me from locally-owned Sonic Drive-In on Archer Road in Gainesville for “The Prep Zone” sports show. My guests for this episode include Eastside swimming and diving coach Jon Allen and members of the Rams’ girls and boys swim teams.

Both teams won the Rob Ramirez city swim meet on Sept. 20, and both programs should be in the mix for another run to state. The Lady Rams finished seventh at the FHSAA Class 2A Swimming and Diving Championships, while the boys finished fourth in the state.

You can listen to the show online, ‘live’ and ‘archived’ at Mainstreet Daily News and ThePrepZone.com.

On Thursday night, tune in to the Jacksonville Jaguars Coaches Show on 106.9 FM “I am Country,” followed by this Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium in London against the Los Angeles Rams. The pregame show begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the kickoff at 9:30 a.m.

We have two high school football broadcasts this week.

The Gainesville football team will host Williston in a matchup of two teams heading in opposite directions.

The visiting Red Devils (6-1), who are ranked sixth in the Rural classification in the latest FHSAA football rankings, have won six in a row since a season-opening 36-35 loss at home in double overtime to Chiefland.

GHS, which lost a district game at home to Leesburg last week, has dropped four in a row. The Hurricanes (2-5) will have to win out against Williston, Vanguard (Ocala) and rival Eastside to finish .500 this season.

Audio of the game will be streamed online at Mainstreet Daily News. Join Marty Pallman (Play-by-play) and James McDonald (Color) for all the action, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. The kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Our radio broadcast on Friday is Eastside at Sandalwood (Jacksonville).

Eastside, which won the Class 3A-District 5 title last week in overtime against South Sumter (Bushnell), defeated the Saints at home last year, 38-9, on Senior Night.

The Rams (5-2) are ranked at No. 8 in the state in Class 3A in the latest FHSAA rankings. The host Saints (0-8) have lost 28 games in a row. Their last win was against Spruce Creek (Port Orange) on Nov. 4, 2022.

Join Mainstreet Daily News Sports Director Mike Ridaught (Play-by-play) and former Gator football player Hank Rone (Color) for all the action.

You can listen to the game on 106.9 FM “I am Country” with audio online at IamCountryGainesville.com beginning at 6 p.m. Kickoff from Duval County is at 6:30 p.m.
