
The Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track & Field Invitational is slated for Friday through Saturday, Jan. 17-19, at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center in Gainesville.
The annual event, which includes top athletes from universities, high schools and youth divisions, will be held at 4870 Celebration Pointe Ave.

The annual meet honors the memory of Jimmy Carnes, a legendary track and field figure in the region and nationally. Carnes was the UF track and field coach from 1964-76 and head coach of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team. He passed away from cancer in 2011.
