The Gainesville Hurricanes travel to St. Augustine in search of the Class 6A District 4 championship tonight.
The Hurricanes (6-2) and Yellow Jackets (5-2) both sport 3-0 conference records, so the winner will capture both the district title and an automatic state playoff berth. The two teams appear in this week’s regional power poll, with St. Augustine at No. 10 and Gainesville receiving votes.
Gainesville enters the contest following back-to-back wins, including a convincing 49-7 home victory over Ridgeview (Orange Park) on Oct. 21.
St. Augustine has won three straight, including a 37-21 home win over Matanzas (Palm Coast) last Friday.

Over at 106.9 I Am Country, Mike Ridaught and Jake Ricker will call the game between St. Francis Catholic Academy at Bronson. The pre-game show starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.
The Bronson Eagles are coming off a 45-6 home loss to Munroe (Quincy) last Friday, while the winless St. Francis Catholic Academy Wolves (0-8) fell at home, 35-0, to Oak Hall on Oct. 22.
St. Francis has lost 20 straight games—after going 0-10 in 2020—and last won on Oct. 24, 2019.
