More than 200 local runners and fitness enthusiasts celebrated Global Running Day on Wednesday with an evening focused on movement, community and wellness at Butler Plaza.
Peak Pulse and lululemon partnered to host the free community event at the lululemon store in Butler Plaza in Gainesville. The celebration featured a two-mile community run, live music, food and giveaways designed to bring together runners of all experience levels.
The evening began with a two-mile run through the area, followed by a post-run gathering that featured pizza and music from a live DJ.
Attendees had the chance to win exclusive merchandise, including limited-edition Global Running Day shirts. Ten participants received a special lululemon Global Running Day shirt as part of the event.
Organizers said the goal was to celebrate the positive impact running can have on physical health, mental well-being and community connection.
Global Running Day is observed annually around the world, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get active and experience the benefits of running and walking.
