Williston, Union County fall in state semifinals

Williston and Union County both saw their volleyball seasons come to an end in the Class 1A state semifinal round on Friday.

The seventh-ranked Williston Red Devils (19-11) traveled to Bristol and fell to the top-ranked Liberty County Bulldogs (27-2), 20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-14.

It marked the first time since 2017 that Williston advanced to the final four after defeating Glades Day (Belle Glade) on Nov. 1 in the 1A-Region 4 Final, 3-2.

Fifth-ranked Union County (20-8) traveled to second-ranked Baker (22-6) and fell 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.

The Tigers advanced to the final four after going to Monticello and sweeping Aucilla Christian on Nov. 1 in the 1A Region 3 Final.
