“It was very unexpected but a pretty amazing way to finish my junior season off,” Stout said. “So many of my teammates really deserve it so for me to receive it is truly something special.”

The third time was the charm for Eric Marshall after a pair of state runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2019.

“Very grateful for the recognition, but I truly believe this is a coaching staff award,” Marshall said. “I could not do it without Nicole (Stout) or Kayla (Hess).”

Stout and Marshall are nominees for the 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Volleyball and Girls Volleyball Coach of the Year, along with the other first-round winners in each of the seven state classifications. Final voting will be on Wednesday.
