Sports beat: Bell softball falls at home

On Thursday night in high school softball action, the Bell Bulldogs lost at home to Branford, falling 13-8. It was just a one-run game, 7-6, at the end of the fifth inning, but the visiting Buccaneers pulled away with a four run sixth inning. The loss snapped a 2-game winning streak for Bell, which will be back in action tonight at 7 p.m. at home against Dixie County (Cross City).

The visiting Bears got back in the win column with a 7-1 win against Lafayette (Mayo) to improve to 10-1.

The Trenton softball team improved to 9-0 with a 10-0 win against Suwannee (Live Oak) on Thursday night. The Tigers also defeated the Bulldogs 2-0 on Monday to complete the 2-game sweep. Trenton, which has won 46 games in a row, will host Bronson at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Williston and Chiefland were off this week. The Lady Red Devils are back in action on Tuesday at home against Bell, while the Lady Indians will host Taylor County on Monday.

BASEBALL – The Buchholz baseball team completed the sweep on Thursday.

The Bobcats defeated Williston 11-7 to finish 4-0 at the Panama City Invitational

Buchholz, which improved to 10-3-1, will play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at home against The Villages.
