The Buchholz baseball team defeated visiting Chiles (Tallahassee), 5-4, on Monday night in a match-up of top 10 teams in Class 6A.
The Bobcats, ranked 7th, only had three hits in the game but they made the most of their opportunities. Five different players drove in a run.
Cole Smithers had a double and a run scored.
Junior Ty Robertson got the win on the mound. He tossed five innings and allowed three runs on four hits.
The visiting Timberwolves (15-7), who are ranked 4th in Class 6A, overcame a 5-0 deficit in the first inning with two runs in the third and two in the sixth to make it a one-run game at 5-4.
However, senior Jackson Peters got the save by retiring all three batters he faced in the seventh, including two strikeouts.
Buchholz, which improved to 15-5-1, will travel to Keystone Heights on Tuesday night looking to sweep the 2-game series against the Indians. The first pitch is at 7 p.m.
Elsewhere, Suwannee (Live Oak) shut out Lafayette (Mayo), 7-0, to sweep the 2-game series against the Hornets (10-7).
The Bulldogs (17-5), who are ranked 3rd in the state in Class 4A, travel to South Walton (Santa Rosa Beach) on Wednesday.
