Sports beat: Buchholz wins at North Marion (Citra)

Last night the Buchholz baseball team defeated North Marion on the road, 10-7, to improve to 2-1-1 on the season. The two teams play again at Buchholz this Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

Newberry stayed unbeaten with a 9-0 win against Williston. Makai Johnson had a pair of RBI doubles in the game. The Panthers, who improved to 5-0 on the season, travel to Wildwood on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

Gainesville dropped its fourth straight game of the season. The Hurricanes lost at Vanguard (Ocala), 6-2, on Tuesday night.

And in Class 1A action, Trenton defeated Dixie County (Cross City), 9-8. Mason Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs driven in and three runs scored, including the game-winning RBI on a walk.
