The Lake City Columbia boys basketball team seems to be peaking at the right time.
The Tigers defeated Forest High School in Ocala last night, 60-51, in what head coach Steve Faulkner described as probably their “most complete game of the season.” Columbia led the game from wire to wire.
The Tigers, who improved to 13-4, have now won five in a row, including a 64-60 win against defending 1A state champion Hawthorne on Tuesday night. Columbia will travel to Madison County on Friday night.
Tomorrow night the Hawthorne boys basketball team will host the Eastside Rams in an Alachua County showdown.
Last year at Eastside, the Rams snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series. But Friday night, the game will be in the Hornets’ nest.
Six of the last seven games in the series have been decided by five points or less.
We’ll have the game for you on 106.9 FM “I am Country” beginning with our pregame coverage at 7 p.m.
