
Last night the Gainesville softball team cruised to a 20-7 win in six innings at rival Buchholz (Gainesville).
The Lady Hurricanes finished with 18 hits in the game.
Junior Parris Wiggs had four hits and drove in six runs. She also scored three runs.
Sophomore Karter Thorp had three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored three for GHS, which improved to 13-3.
Senior Ayanna Woodard had a pair of hits, drove in three runs, and scored three runs.
Five different players had at least two hits for Gainesville, which will host Keystone Heights at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
(BASEBALL) – Santa Fe (Alachua) defeated Eastside (Gainesville), 11-1, in five innings.
Landon Rogers had a double, an RBI, two stolen bases, and a run scored. J.T. Thornton also had a double and drove in two runs for the Raiders (15-1), who won their 14th straight game.
Sophomore Zane Starling was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Rogers, Thornton, and Starling each had a double.
Santa Fe will host Clay (Green Cove Springs) in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 Class 4A showdown at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
Union County (Lake Butler) improved to 16-1 with a 14-6 win against visiting P.K. Yonge (Gainesville).
Senior Whip Davis had two hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored two. Meanwhile, Senior Tripp Davis, who also had a double, led the team with three hits.
Junior Kyler Cohen led the team with four runs batted in.
The Tigers are back in action at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Branford.
Elsewhere, Palatka shutout Bradford (Starke), 11-0, and Fort White mercy-ruled Bronson, 17-1.
