The No. 1 seeded Gainesville softball team defeated No. 2 seed Middleburg, 2-1, on Thursday night to win the Class 5A-District 3 title.
The Hurricanes (18-6) trailed 1-0 entering the fourth, but they scored one in the fourth and one in the sixth to beat the Broncos.
Senior Addison Joseph had a solo home run. She finished 2-for-3 and drove in both runs.
GHS will host a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 6.
(BASEBALL) – The Newberry baseball team won the Class 1A-District 7 title with an 8-7 win against visiting Williston.
RAWE Recruits reported that Makai Johnson and Logan Carlisle hit back-to-back homeruns for the Panthers (21-1) after trailing the Red Devils, 7-6, in the bottom of the sixth. Johnson’s solo shot tied the game, while Carlisle had the game-winning hit.
