Sports beat: Santa Fe posts second straight shutout

On Friday night, the Santa Fe (Alachua) baseball team defeated West Nassau (Callahan), 2-0, to improve to 14-1.

Zane Starling had an RBI triple, followed by an RBI single from Dalton Dampier in the fifth inning.

Dampier finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Starling was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Starling also picked up the win on the mound by throwing 6.1 innings and allowing no runs on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Santa Fe will host Eastside (Gainesville) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Union County won at Lafayette (Mayo), 11-4, to improve to 15-1.

Paden Clyatt hit a 3-run home run, while Whip Davis picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers, who will host P.K. Yonge (Gainesville) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

(LACROSSE) – The Oak Hall boys lacrosse team won at Bolles (Jacksonville), 7-4, to remain undefeated.

The Eagles (11-0) end the regular season at 7:30 p.m. at home on Friday, April 9, against Ponte Vedra.
