Sports beat: Williston softball team eases past Buchholz

The Williston softball team cruised to a 17-6 win against Buchholz.

It was a monster night for Austine Howard, who drove in seven runs. She had a three-run home run, a 2-RBI double, and a two-run single.

Raegan Geiger, who scored four runs, tossed a complete game in the circle.

“I thought I did great in the circle,” she said. “I always try to get ahead in the count and that helped a lot.”

Navaeh Hayes had three singles, drove in two runs, and scored three runs for the Red Devils (4-8), who will host Chiefland at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

(BOYS LACROSSE) – On Monday night, the Buchholz boys’ lacrosse team defeated Lincoln (Tallahassee), 11-3, to improve to 6-5. It was the second straight win for the Bobcats, who host Santa Fe (Alachua) at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

(GIRLS LACROSSE) – The Gainesville girls lacrosse team edged Santa Fe, 9-7, at home. The Lady Hurricanes, who improved to 5-5, will play at 6 p.m. on Thursday at rival Buchholz.
