Streaking Columbia tames Seabreeze; moves on to regional semifinals

Generic football

The Columbia Tigers are choosing a good time to peak. After five straight losses to begin a COVID-plagued season, the Tigers have won four straight games, three of them in the postseason, to vault into the conversation for a state championship.

The Tigers scored two second quarter touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead into halftime, extended it to 21-0 in the third quarter, and held on to defeat the Seabreeze Sandcrabs 28-14 in the second round of the postseason Friday night.

Columbia is now 4-5 on the season, and faces the winner of the Mainland-Matanzas game next Friday night in the Class 6-A Region 2 semifinals.
