Strongman Champions League will make its first stop in Florida when the international professional strongman competition comes to downtown Lake City on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Lake City event will be the league’s only Southeast U.S. stop, its first competition in Florida and only its second event in the United States. The competition will bring up to 14 professional strongman athletes from the United States and around the world to Olustee Park (169 N. Marion Ave.) for a day of feats of strength, family entertainment and community activities.
One of the featured challenges will have athletes attempting to pull a Lake City Fire Department tower ladder truck weighing approximately 74,000 pounds.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include additional strength challenges, food and vendors, family entertainment, community activities and special guest appearances.
Representatives from Strongman Champions League, the Columbia County Sports Commission, Visit Lake City and the Lake City Fire Department will participate in the event. The complete athlete lineup and special guests will be announced before the competition.
The Lake City competition is expected to be part of Strongman Champions League’s international media programming, showcasing Lake City and Columbia County to audiences around the world.
The event is the 12th and second-to-last stop on the competition trail before the Strongman Champions League World Finals in South Africa in November.
