“Now that I have a child, I want to leave him a place to call home,” said Katina Kearney in the press release as she works toward purchasing her Habitat home in 2026.

By offsetting construction costs, the grant will help keep future homeowners’ mortgages affordable while ensuring the home is built with skilled labor and quality materials.

“We are grateful to Publix Super Markets Charities for this significant investment in our community,” said Jessica Parrish, CEO of Alachua Habitat for Humanity, in the press release. “This grant provides the labor and materials needed to build homes locally in Alachua County and aids in offsetting the increasing costs of land, allowing us to continue our mission of making homeownership accessible for all.”
