Multiple occupants were displaced due to significant smoke travel. Firefighters completed extensive ventilation in several units and conducted salvage and overhaul operations in the affected apartments.

While no one was injured as a result of the fire, two of the family’s pets died due to inhalation before firefighters arrived.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in evacuating residents and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alachua County Fire Marshal.
