- Two male juveniles, ages 16 and 15, were arrested for multiple burglaries in LaCrosse after surveillance and K9 tracking linked them to the crimes.
- The juveniles faced charges including Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Criminal Mischief, Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance, and Theft from multiple incidents.
Two juveniles were arrested following an investigation into a series of burglaries in the LaCrosse area.
According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release, during the early morning hours of Saturday, ACSO deputies responded to a business in the 20900 block of N. State Road 121 in LaCrosse after receiving a burglary alarm.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the business’ front glass door had been shattered. Surveillance footage showed two individuals throwing rocks through the glass before unlawfully entering the business, stealing merchandise and fleeing on foot.
A K9 deputy deployed an agency-issued K9 partner to conduct a track from the scene. The track led deputies to a nearby residence, where they made contact with two male juveniles, ages 16 and 15, who were detained pending further investigation.
Investigators determined the two juveniles matched the individuals seen in the surveillance footage and took them into custody.
While the business burglary investigation was ongoing, additional deputies responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 21600 block of NW County Road 1493 in LaCrosse. An eyewitness reported seeing two teenagers rummaging through a vehicle and attempting to steal a go-kart from the property.
Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined the same two juveniles were responsible for both incidents.
