Sonic Drive-In announced it has started construction on a second store in Gainesville.
The new location will be at 6421 SW Archer Rd, near the Town Square Shopping Center near SW 63rd Boulevard.
“This location will have 15 stalls and a drive-thru lane, plus a patio,” said Rachel Russell, a Brand PR specialist, in an email reply to Mainstreet.
The projected opening date is this spring and Russell said the store is currently hiring, directing anyone interested in applying for a position to visit https://careers.sonicdrivein.com/us/en.
The other Sonic Drive-In in Gainesville is located at 2162 NW 39th Avenue.
The restaurant is known for its retro theme with its drive-in concept and features a menu that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and a popular customized beverage menu.
This is very important news. Every restaurant opening or closing is a major event for your ‘boy Gish.
Well, this is the second second Sonic, or perhaps the second first Sonic? There was a dilapidated one on Main St. when I first moved here that is now part of an Audi Dealer.
Can we please have a restaurant that is NOT on Archer Rd for once?? I avoid that area completely now because of the congestion.
Agree
I live just down the street from the new location and I’ll be glad to not have to venture up to Butler proper for fast food.
Cars going in and out of this location will have to cross a dedicated bike trail used by many. I hope this business will have a stop or yield sign and sufficient warnings before cars cross this trail. Users of the trail should have the right of way as they are already there.
“… will have 15 stalls …”
Well, pardner, once they open I’ll have to gallop on over for some Sonic goodness!
Just another hangout for the hooligans in Gainesville to hangout and make trouble
As an employee there, there’s no hanging out for the young ones yet, just older people who don’t know how to leave with in 20 after there done eating
