Gainesville area sees gas prices drop by nine cents since last week

The average price per gallon dropped nine cents over the past week to $3.04 in the Gainesville area, according to the latest AAA numbers released Thursday.

In the Gainesville area, prices decreased from $3.13 last week to $3.04, while the average price per gallon in Florida slid from $3.08 to $2.98. The national price went from $3.14 to $3.12.

Thursday’s national average for a gallon of gas is $3.12, one cent more than last month’s $3.13. Last year, the price was $3.45.

Florida is the 25th-most expensive state in price per gallon at $2.98. Last month, gas was $2.91 per gallon, and last year it was $3.27 statewide.  

In the Gainesville area, last month’s price was $3.04 per gallon, and last year it was $3.34.

  • $2.79 at BP, 15295 NE US 301, Waldo
  • $2.79 at Raceway, 15330 NW US 301, Waldo
  • $2.79 at Pilot, 17276 US 301, Waldo
  • $2.79 at Marathon, 14495 Cole St., Waldo
  • $2.84 at Wawa, 16304 NW US Hwy 441, Alachua
  • $2.84 at Raceway, 16171 Martin Luther King Dr., Alachua
  • $2.84 at Sam’s Club, 4001 SW 30th Place, Gainesville
  • $2.87 at Murphy Express, 6323 NW 23rd Court, Gainesville
  • $2.87 at SUNOCO, 5310 NW 13th St., Gainesville
