The Gainesville Burger Club presented The Top, a downtown restaurant, with the inaugural Mark Morchel Lifetime Acheesement award, with co-owner Hal Mendez accepting the honor.

The club chose The Top for “producing innovative burgers while staying true to tradition,” a press release said. The award is about dedication to craft, longevity and consistency.

The award is named in honor of a longtime club member who died last year and was presented on April 18 with around 30 club members present.

The top has to be one of the most OVERrated restaurants in town. There are so many better burgers to enjoy.
