The Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday that Ian Fletcher will serve as interim managing director, along with his role as chief operating officer.
Fletcher has more than 18 years of experience supporting the business community, and an announcement said his leadership will ensure continued momentum during the chamber’s ongoing transitions.
Former CEO Eric Godet stepped down at the end of last year along with a staffing layoff in December, to get the chamber headed on a fiscally sustainable path. The chamber also took a private loan, plans to sell its downtown office and has seen other staffing changes.
The plan is to conduct a national search for a new CEO this spring and into the summer, but that search could change depending on how the chamber wants to position itself moving forward, according to the chair of the board.
