Gainesville area gas prices inch up to $3.16 per gallon

Gas prices remained stable in the Gainesville area at the start of 2025 with the cost at the pump going up one cent per gallon over last week.

According to the AAA website, the average cost per gallon went up from $3.15 to $3.16. Across Florida, prices also went up one cent from $3.10 to $3.11, while the national average went from $3.04 to $3.06.

Thursday’s national average of $3.06 is two cents more than last month’s $3.04. Last year, the price was at $3.10.

Florida is the 13th most expensive state in price per gallon at $3.11. Last month, gas was $3.09 per gallon and last year it was $3.06 statewide.  

In the Gainesville area, last month’s price was $3.14 per gallon, and last year it was $3.11.
