Gas prices increase in Gainesville heading into Thanksgiving week

Gas prices went up five cents per gallon in the Gainesville area one week before the Thanksgiving holiday.

As of Thursday, the average price per gallon in the Gainesville market is up from $3.09 last week to $3.14. In Florida, the cost went from $3.02 to $3.03, while nationwide the price dropped from $3.08 to $3.06.

According to a AAA press release, nearly 80 million Americans are expected to travel over Thanksgiving with 71.7 million projected to travel by car.

Thursday’s national average of $3.06 is 11 cents less than last month’s $3.17. Last year, the price was at $3.29.

Florida is the 20th most expensive state in price per gallon at $3.03. Last month, gas was $3.08 per gallon and last year it was $3.04 statewide.  

In the Gainesville area, last month’s price was $3.17 per gallon, and last year it was $3.06.

  • $2.89 at Sunoco, 4207 NW 13th St., Gainesville
  • $2.89 at Pilot, 17276 US 301, Waldo
  • $2.95 at BP, 15295 NE US 301, Waldo
  • $2.95 at Sam’s Club, 4001 SW 30th Pl, Gainesville
  • $2.95 at Marathon, 9600 Martin Luther Hwy, Gainesville
  • $2.96 at Circle K, 4565 NW 13th St., Gainesville
  • $2.99 at Texaco, 6850 SE US 301, Hawthorne
